ARC has a Great Write-Up on emerson Exchange

Some excerpts

“Even in the midst of a recession, some companies continue to invest in new technologies, products, and marketing techniques”
“CHARMs turn the idea of conventional I/O on its head”

“DeltaV Product Roadmap – The Dave Dietz Fire Hose”

“Listening to Bob Lenich explain the many enhancements in Syncade version 4.3 and plans for Syncade version 5 and beyond was like trying to drink through the same fire hose used in the DeltaV roadmap session”

“We were impressed by how rapidly Emerson responded to customer-requested enhancements”

Regarding Asset Portal 4.0

“By combining the power of Emerson’s PlantWeb predictive intelligence with Meridium’s advanced analytics and decision support technology, customers can now more effectively manage and maintain their most critical production assets”

NEC Participates at regional ISPE Table-Top Product Show

New England Controls and Emerson: Delivering Business Solutions for the Life Sciences Industry

Last week, New England Controls spent the day showing the local ISPE members what is new with Emerson, Fisher Controls, Rosemount, Micromotion, as well as New England Controls and Pond Technical Sales.

The show was very busy, especially compared to the last few years.  With travel restrictions on many companies, I think that regional shows probably experienced some increase in turnout.

The show was held at Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots. (Check out NEC's Logo on the Jumbo-Tron at the stadium.)

NEC Highlighed the new DeltaV S-Series hardware and I/O On Demand as some of the new and exciting technology from Emerson Process Management.

As I have blogged about recently from Emerson Exchange, I/O On Demand and Electronic Marshalling provides I/O what type you want, where you want it, and when you need it, providing
  • Single Channel Granularity
  • Single Channel Integrity
  • Change Order Resistance
Also showcased was the great wireless technology and breadth of SmartWireless products from Emerson, Fisher and Rosemount utilizing the WirelessHart standard.  In addition to wireless, Rosemount was stressing the benefits of device diagnostics to improve your process and asset management.

Finally, NEC introduced our Operations Management and Intelligence team, which provides solutions to help our life science customers improve their operations with work-flow and decision support solutions utilizing Emerson's Syncade Product Suite.

I shot a quick video of NEC's product booth at the ISPE Event:

Rosemount Analytical Wireless Solutions

While at Exchange, I stopped over at Rosemount Analytic's booth.

Rosemount Analytic was showing off their family of wireless (SmartWireless / WirelessHART) solutions for pH and Conductivity.

Another neat piece of control technology that I learned about is their Smart pH Probes which can be calibrated on the bench, away from the process.  The probe stores the calibration information so when it is brought to the process and connected to the analyzer, the analyzer has all of the calibration / standardization information.

While at Exchange, I had a chance to talk briefly with Barbara Hamilton, a consultant at Emerson.  Barb works with Emerson as an industrial energy consultant.

Barb and the rest of her team have several great solutions for plants producing their own energy.  The family of solutions are called SmartProcess and includes Energy Monitoring and Savings, Multi-fuel boilers, Steam Header control among others.

These solutions can be applied to DeltaV systems as well as other DCS systems

Here is a short video clip of Barb talking about Emerson's SmartProcess energy solutions

Emerson Exchange Flow Measurement Goodness

While at Emerson Exchange, I learned a little bit about Rosemount's Annubar flow measurement offerings.

Here is a series of short video clips given by Emily Vinella, product marketing for Rosemount discussing some of the features of Rosemount's Annubar line of flow measurements

Rosemount 3051-SFA Annubar
Rosemount 3051-SFC/A Compact Annubar
Rosemount 585 Severe Service Annubar
Rosemount 585 Main Steam Line Annubar

Did you know Rosemount produces a great device for multipoint temperature monitoring?

It's the 848T and it supports upto 8 inputs via Foundation Fieldbus or 4 inputs over WirelessHART.  This device is great for monitoring many temperatures, like for Sterilize In Place (SIP)!

Not only can the 848T monitor temperature, but it can optionally monitor 4-20 mA signals as well.  So if you have existing 4-20 signals that are out there that you would like to connect to via WirelessHart, and the THUM wouldn't work since the signals are not HART, then the 848T is the tool for you.

Here is a short Emerson Exchange video on the 848T.
